Model RA-WC
The Model RA-WC (Wire Cutting) Actuator is used to hydraulically open a reverse acting-gate valve. This fail-safe actuator utilizes hydraulic fluid pressure working against a stationary piston and movable cylinder to further compress a preloaded coil spring. When hydraulic control fluid is released, the piston is returned to its upper position by the action of the internal spring and the force of the pressure in the valve acting on the valve stem.
Actuator Features –
- Applicable to reverse-acting API gate valves
- Available for valve sizes from 1-13/16" to 7-1/16" and for working pressures up to 15,000 psi
- Fail-safe by a high preload of the internal coil spring
- Spring housing is a welded construction that prevents accidental release of preloaded spring
- Over 8,000 lbs. of closure force - sufficient to shear 7/32" logging cable, 0.102" slickline or 3/16" stainless steel braided cable
- Adaptable to all major manufacturers' gate valves
- Compact and rugged for easier and more convenient installation and removal
Bonnet Assembly Features –
- Optimized stem - the diameter of the stem has been maximized, which minimizes the diameter of the piston
- Metal-to-metal backseat seal to protect against packing seal blowouts in the event of fire damage
- Safeguards against well fluid contamination
- Metal-to-metal backseat stem
- Self-energized stem seals
- Vent hole to allow visual confirmation of a stem packing leak
