Health, Safety, and Environment Program at WGPC
Management's Commitment
When making business decisions, WGPC gives the highest priority to health, safety and environmental issues for both our customers and our employees. We are committed to:
- Attaining the highest achievable standards of occupational safety and health while protecting the environment.
- Managing HS&E issues with the same priority as other business activities.
- Identifying and correcting HS&E hazards.
- Effectively monitoring and reviewing our performance regarding safety, health and the environment.
Program Implementation
Each facility has an HS&E Program in place that meets or exceeds the relevant state, federal or provincial regulations for the area in which it operates. WGPC's drug and alcohol policies have been incorporated into the HS&E program Project specific HS&E requirements can be incorporated into our existing programs along with monthly or quarterly activity reporting.
Implementation and Compliance
Implementation and compliance of HS&E policies and procedures are the responsibility of all personnel in the WGPC organization.
- Managers ensure that work areas are safe, hazards are recognized and all HS&E standards are enforced.
- Supervisors attend to the daily enforcement of standards, accident investigation and workplace assessments.
- HS&E Coordinators, individuals with specific knowledge areas, perform periodic compliance checks on each location under the guidance of the Regional HS&E Manager.
- Regional HS&E Managers provide support and guidance for all HS&E operations throughout the facilities.
- Each employee is responsible for ensuring their own personal safety as well as communicating with fellow employees when they observe "at-risk" acts or hazards.
- Each employee is encouraged to document "at-risk" acts or hazards by submitting an appropriate form to their safety representative.
Program Implementation at Your Work Site
Safety is important to everyone around a rig site, particularly to our customers. A single unsafe act can result in not only drilling delays and increased well costs but loss of life which can NEVER be replaced. Occasionally, WGPC personnel have observed that the routine drilling procedures have been modified in the field to save time or expense without fully considering the impact that the changes may have on the safety of workers or the risks to the environment. When such safety situations occur, it is the policy of WGPC to authorize our Field Service Representative to stop work until the situation is rectified or until the customer's office has evaluated the procedure and deemed it appropriate and safe.
Monthly or Quarterly Activity Reporting
Many of our customers share our concerns for HS&E, Quality, and Field Service/Product Performance. Detailed records are maintained at each facility and compiled at our headquarters so that we can monitor our progress over time. This information, either the raw data or the analysis of the data, can be shared with our customers either in the form of printed reports or in an interactive monthly or quarterly meeting.
